Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) Training (Chapter 31)

If you have a service-connected disability that makes it difficult to work or prevents you from working, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veteran Readiness and Employment program can help. This benefit is known as VR&E or Chapter 31.

It helps eligible Veterans explore career options, identify employment goals, and obtain the education, training, and support needed to prepare for, find, and keep suitable employment.

VR&E benefits may include employment services, career counseling, training, and other support based on your individual needs and career objectives.

VR&E Chapter 31 can help pay for approved training when that training is part of a plan designed to support a direct path to the Veteran's employment goal.

Eligibility for Veterans

You may apply for VR&E benefits and services if both of the following are true:

You did not receive a dishonorable discharge; and
You have a VA service-connected disability rating of at least 10%.

A VR&E counselor works with each Veteran to determine whether the program is appropriate and to develop an employment-focused rehabilitation plan.

VR&E Training at CED Solutions

Veterans may re-sit any course for free up to six months immediately following their course completion.

A VR&E student should select a program that supports the specific job they plan to pursue after training.

Before enrolling, the student should consult with both their VR&E counselor and CED Solutions to confirm that the selected course, certification path, and training schedule align with the approved employment goal.
