1. What is the CCNP and how is it different from the CCNA? CCNP is one of the next certifications after CCNA. If you are not familiar with CCNA, please read the CCNA General Information and CCNA FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). The CCNA Certification is one of the prerequisites to obtaining CCNP Certification. 2.How many courses are there and what are they? There are four CCNP courses: (click on the course to view course objectives)
3. What are the prerequisites for taking CCNP courses? Passing the CCNA Exam - This exam is administered by Prometric Systems. Proof of passing the CCNA exam is required and must be shown to the instructor during the first day of a CCNP class. Students should be familiar with and have experience using the Cisco IOS commands covered in the CCNA certification courses and exam. Recommended (not required):
4. Will completion of these Cisco courses guarantee me a job in networking? No. The area of networking is a very complex and sophisticated field. Many of the people taking the CCNP courses are already working in the networking field and the CCNP courses are part of their life-long learning in networking. (see course prerequisites) CCNP courses are designed to help students further their knowledge in the specific CCNP topics. These courses are designed to supplement other courses taken by students in the computer science and networking fields. Cabrillo College and Cisco Systems®, suggest that students continue their education towards a Bachelors degree in Computer Technology, if they do not already have one. Employers look for a variety of skills and traits, not just technical skills, from potential employees, including communication skills, attitude, experience, critical thinking skills and general networking knowledge at a variety of levels. 5.
