AIX (Advanced Interactive EXecutive) is IBM's version of the Unix operating system. AIX has a command-line interface which means that all commands must be typed in similar to UNIX, Linux, or MS-DOS commands. AIX is a superset of the programs that comprise traditional UNIX.
AIX is loaded with logical constructions and tools that intentionally disguise traditional UNIX approaches. As a result, AIX accomplishes creation of a layer that is a "level of abstraction" to provide easier conceptualization of administrative tasks.
